Most exciting trekk of all - climbing Torna peak!

Torana, also known as "Prachandghad", is really "prachand" as the name indicates. The peak is the tallest one in Pune district with 1400 meters hight. Amit, rash and I were in the team and Iqbal-Sr and Iqbal-Jr were also supposed to be with us, but since they have some work they didn't turned up. We reached the base of the peak in Amit's car, after missing the route one time.
We are carrying two maps, one is the google map paper print and the other is a map brought by Amit. The two maps are showing two routes and we picked up the route shown by the map of my friend as in that Torna peak was clearly mentioned. We took right turn from NH4 highway after crossing Nasrapur by 4KM, and from there after driving for 14KM we reached a village called Bhor. Then we asked few people there only to know we missed the route. Ofcourse we didn't repent for missing the route as we could witness the beautiful nature all the way to Bhor and rash (My mom - I call her like this) is happy as she captured some good pictures there especially the picture of a "plant upon chimney". We took U turn in Bhor and came back to Nasrapur and took a right turn exactly at nasrapur and reached a village called "Velha/Welha" after about 15KM.(If anyone planning for Torna trekk, just remember this place - "Welha". There are many ST buses from Swargate to Velha). Torna is about another 15KM from this village. You will not see any sign board with Torna name on it till you are 5-8KM from Torna.

We started our trekk at 10:52AM. The whether was so cool and it started drizzling when we started but soon the drizzles stopped. After climbing for almost an hour, we found there are 3 paths and we were confused which way we should pick up. We checked for the groupd started just before us, but we could not find them. rash said - "Trekking and GLS (gate level simulation) are one and the same there will be many paths and multi cycle paths". We could picked up one path and started walking but almost 10 mins we endup in a dead-end. Amit met a black buddy (a snake) too. After walking in a slippery shortcut we could meet the "actual-path" to reach the top. At this point we actually could not find the Fort and we guessed it might be behind a cloud we see at the top. After another 40 mins, we reached a point where we literally touched the cloud and its all rain there as the cloud is hitting the hill. We found some plants which are like "tortoices" and Amit observed that they are only on one side of the hill.

From here, the hill has too steep and its a bit difficult to climb. After half an hour we reached the entrance of the fort. There was a small "cafeteria" (but in different style as it is on top of the hill - a small hut) where we had tea and the bread and biscuits rash brought. Spend 30 mins
there. Its 2:30 PM and we started exploring the fort. There only few remainings of the fort, Mengai temple and a small temple of lord Shiva. Many said, we can see Rajghad and Sihnaghad temples from Torna peak but the peak was surrounded by the cloud and we could see nothing. At 3:10 PM we started our return trekk. Climibing down is difficult and we slipped here and there few times and finally reached the base at 6:10 PM.

Overall, its a very good experience and I liked the trekk very much. As Poonam said, Torna is a difficult peak to climb of all the peaks around Pune. But more difficult it is, more fun it is.!!
